Autumn B {Fab@40+ Project} | Sherry Penner

Next up in the Fab@40+ Project is the Beautiful Autumn B. Autumn wanted to join the project because this was something she had never done for herself before. She finds herself at the start of a new road in life, she was the owner of a successful hair salon that had two locations which she has recently sold and is now starting in to the next phase of life and is wondering just what that might be exactly. I think this is the start of most of our journeys when we hit our 40+’s.

Autumn emailed me after the shoot and said, “Yesterday was the most comfortable I’ve felt for doing something that is very uncomfortable for me. I do believe now that I am way less insecure and shy than when I was young. It’s funny how that is…”

I recently came across this quote from Brene Brown, which I think fits this project to a T: “People may call what happens at midlife “a crisis”, but it’s not. It’s an unravelling – a time when you feel a desperate pull to live the life you want to live. The unravelling is a time when you are challenged by the universe to let go of who you think you are supposed to be and to embrace who you are.”

Why I think this is such a great thing for Autumn to do for herself is, she has two daughters who will see her appreciating herself and acknowledging it, out loud. One of the greatest gifts you can give another human is the gift of understanding and seeing their value. Knowing your own worth is a hard journey for most, showing our young people what that looks like is leading them to finding their own sooner than we did.

Thank you Autumn for letting me be a part of this journey with you! You are stunning, and kind and open and that shines out of you.
